Need help to ID this miniature!
« on: February 22, 2019, 03:52:46 PM »
I am in desperate need of standing gunners for my growing Vietnam flotilla and I found this rather useful 28mm gunner in my leadpile. I have a faint notion that it might be some OOP Devil Dog design  ??? but I am not sure. Grateful for any help!

Looks Copplestone to me.

Not Copplestone, too rough.

Were it not for the footwear I’d swear it was a giveaway from Studio 54. If I’m not mistaken the pose is the third or fourth step in that classic disco dance, The Hustle.

The Hustle  :D :D :D

His best buddies in the leadpile are these ruffians:

Maybe that can give some clue?

I think you might be right about them being DDD. The overly large AK inclines me to that conclusion. As they are recognisably anthropomorphic, I think we can rule out Stan Johansen as the culprit. They certainly don’t look any other in production lines of insurgents that I can think of. Not Empress or TAG or Mongrel etc.

Getting back to your need for standing gunners. Eureka have both Somali and Zanla crew figures for their DshKm that are useful for conversion purposes. There are also some standing WW2 US army .50 cal figures available from Company B that might help.

I'm pretty sure that's the AAMG figure that Force of Arms had with their Toyota Technical crew. Perhaps John from FoA can confirm.

Yeah I'm almost 100% sure that's the technical crew from FoA the more I look at the pics. I think I may have even had this pack at one time.

Thanks all for the advice on standing options and the FOA ID. FOA are no longer with us are they?

They sorta are. I think I sent John about 6 PMs over the span of 2 years before he finally replied and sent me the VC AAMG set for my Nam project. He's been busy with a house move and renos so I think he's not really trading in an official capacity. It wouldn't hurt to shoot him a PM here on LAF though.
