In the last scenario we played with the water as deep water so people had to use boats or swim.

Mostly we just play with the water as shallow water so it slows people down while they wade.

We played our season ending finale at our clubs annual convention.

I modified the Gods of Fire campaign to suit a 4 player format.

For the first part of the campaign we rowed down the river to get to the temple while being attacked by tribal war parties.

for full details please have a look at my blog.

I got the rules on Saturday and this looks good and what I like is that the terrain you are using looks like the stuff I have - Bonus!

All of the terrain is scratch built. The islands are made from sheets of polystyrene.

The small islands are plastercast rocks made using tin foil as the molds. The temple objective is a plastic fast food container with a polystyrene dome an then covered in plaster with the detail scribed in.

The trees are mostly taken from aquarium plants often broken up to make more useful shapes.

It's quite possible to make terrain without needing to go to a shop and buy it.

Most of the scatter terrain comes from the mantic terrain crates. That terrain is good value for money.

Here is the other part of our double header adventure. This is an underground temple complex.

fantastic - great boards again.
love the underground / interior one - the combination / contrast of both  is terrific - and helps to show the potential of the game narratively for combining environments like that.

We did have loads of fun. Because the combat system is opposed D20s its very swingy. So even a fight +9 heritor can lose to a scrub crewman. Thats a key feature of the game and you either like it or don't. Even a level 10 heritor can be taken down by the equivalent of goblins.

Its very different from D&D were a level 10 character could wade through oceans of goblins with almost no risk.

Because the combat system seems to produce extreme results so often there are loads of cinematic moments where you get to taste the agonies of defeat or the thrill of victory.

Using the two different styles of tables worked very well. it wasn't hard to make the rock pieces to make the cave look. the games did have a different feel and were very fighty because we were opposed by tribal war parties.

Still loads of fun and you really feel the loss when one of your specialists dies especially if they have been with you for a long time.
