15mm Arab/Zanzibari Slavers
« on: March 15, 2019, 03:46:23 AM »
I mostly use Thouroughbred Miniatures Barbary Pirates for
15mm Darkest Africa slavers and all around bad guys. Mostly.

Are there any other 15mm figs that look Good?

What do you think about Blue Moon 15mm Path and with muskets for Zanzibari?
Thanks.

Path = Pathan?  Blue Moon are nice figures but larger than traditional 15 mm, closer to 18 mm.  I don't have experience with Thoroughbred so I don't know if they match size-wise.   I imagine a variety of Colonial figures would work.  I'm using some of Blue Moon's Darkest Africa Askaris in such a role.  Probably a lot of early period ranges will provide useful figures.  Don't overlook Irregular Miniatures, the figures are on the larger size - they will mix well with Blue Moon in my experience, same with Lancashire games (though less dynamic poses for the latter).  Yet to get on with painting mine at this point.

For my generic slavers to make the bulk of my troops, I use 15mm Lancashire Games Mahdist riflemen.

The Mahdist command work very well for some characters.

Also the Irregular miniatures 15mm Colonial figure FZ133 Bornu African Musketman in long robe to add to the bulk.

Variety seems to be key for the Indian Ocean slave traders of Zanzibar.  So, aside from the Baluchi and Mahdist figures you might get from other sources, Stone Mountain makes Bedouins and Tuaregs too, and some look like they could do double duty in East Africa as Zanzibari (Omani) slavers.

Lots of crossover potential of figures in that Muslim slave trade out of Zanzibar:
