15mm Kings of War
« on: March 17, 2019, 10:50:30 AM »
Recently I played a game of Kings of War using my 15mm fantasy collection. I played with Tim a very experienced KoW player who showed me ropes.

It was a 3000pt game, Dwarves v Orcs&Goblins which played to conclusion within 3 hours.

I must say I did enjoy this first, proper outing (I played my first game with another novice and we made many mistakes).

All the dwarves are Demonworld and the O&G are a mix of Demonworld and Blood Dawn.

Cool. KoW works well with smaller scale figures - did you use the standard unit sizes and distances, I can't quite tell from the pictures, but it certainly looks close?

No Base frontage is 80mm, standard.

We kept distances the same, in inches

We played a lot of KoW v1 with 10mm figures, I think we used 80mm by 60mm for a normal infantry regiment (basically 2 warmaster units side by side), along with standard measurements in inches, it worked well.

It might be worth adding a bit more frontage to cavalry, large infantry and '25mm based' infantry, to represent their bigger frontage in the 28mm game, 120mm or 125mm frontage compared to 100mm for infantry. It makes them a bit more unwieldy, and allows more attackers against one. Not a game breaker, but does add a bit more variation to the units than just the stat line

I totally agree, we even played it with 10mm minis. We used cm instead on inches for all measurements.

Anyway, a really nice tabletop with pretty awesome models!
