Converted old gw skaven to beastmen
« on: March 17, 2019, 11:24:23 AM »
Hello again all,
Been some time since my last post.
Here are wip pics of some conversions I did.

I had bought a lot of these old skaven for my son , which unfortunately he didn't like as they are the same pose ( sigh that's what a ton of choice does to you, i would have gobbled them up if I someone gave them to me when I was a boy !!!)

I had a lot of beastmen heads & arms spare , & since beastmen are known for their prolific  nature , skaven beastmen hybrids are a possibility.

Very simple conversion. Remove the head , tail ( though this could be left on) & arms. Imho they came quite good . So what if they're short, variation is good.
I will end up with around 30 of them. A good sized unit for little investment.

Here are comparison pics.

I like'em a lot. They do look way better than the original satyr-like ones.

Welcome.
Glad you like them , thanks.
They do have character.
With a little work on the feet ( removing the claws & sticking a piece of squarish sprue they can also be used for chaos dwarves ).

It makes 100% sense to use spares.

That's quite a wild looking bunch you have got there - how well do they rank up?

I must admit that I would not have realised what bodies you have been using if it had not been explicitely mentioned - though I guess on close examination I could have spotted the skaven symbol on their chest.

I must admit that I do not have much experience with converting the one-piece-wonder plastics from the 90's, though I did a bunch of headswaps on the Bretonnian archers using Middenheimer heads to make them look like a bunch of wild foresters. They have not made it yet to the painting queue, though.

We're all like “I can't throw this out, might need them one day” but never do ...

You're the guy who actually remembers and uses them!
