Help with Monster/Alien Heads
« on: March 17, 2019, 05:39:59 PM »
I recently read Volume 3 of the comic "American Vampire", in which some specialist US troops take on an unusual type of vampire as well as the Japanese during WW2 . I fancy doing some scenarios based on this, using perhaps Mantic ghouls as a base but I'm failing to find a source of head swaps. The heads and tongue are reminiscent of the Resident Evil Lickers  but the head is smooth like Giger's Alien.

I was hoping Heresy still did the Lurker heads but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Any suggestions for heads that doesn't involve me trying to sculpt? My google fu has failed!
Waiter, my soup is giggling.

Possibly, but I doubt I could source them separately!

Heresy Stalker heads; I used them on a horde of Hormagaunts (as per mcfonz's idea actually) and they're perfect for that; smooth, long heads, no eyes and 'sharp, pointy teeth'.

I also converted several Hormagaunt heads with some judicious cutting and a tiny bit of GS, so I could have a few with their mouths open, just for variety.

I don't have many pics, but here's one from a small AAR in which they featured:

(Pardon the unfinished bases; those have been fixed since then :D )

Also; I just tried to find them on the Heresy site, but they appear to be gone, but I'm sure if you contact Andy directly, he can still sort you out...

Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Heresy used to do some guys that fit the bill completely (heads and all), like Daeothar's stalker heads but more humanlike.
Unavailable now though. They were called Lurkers. You may be able to find some somewhere though. Sorry not much more help than that though.

LURKERS! That's the name I was looking for...

Cheers Beefcake; I knew there was something off with the name I used. I just checked the Heresy invoice for the heads, and I can confirm it was 'Lurkers'...  :D

Too bad they're gone; I could do with some more, as I ran out building my swarm. Better send an email myself too...

They instantly reminded me of the Marvel villain "Venom".
If you can find some clix, a head swap would work.

My bad; I totally missed that line under the pictures... ::)

Still though; it couldn't hurt emailing Andy, just in case. I know I will...

Good idea I must admit, will email him. I do have a couple of the Lurkers, shame he withdrew them.

Apparently they were real mould rippers with the spines on their back and the claws. Surprised Andy hasn't reworked them given how popular they were and he's been remastering a bunch of his minis. I think they would look fine without any spines like the vampires above.

If I recall correctly, he has been selling the heads separately for the past few years. Hopefully, they were on a separate mould, because I could certainly do with another couple of dozen...

IIRC he did say he was going to redo them at the time he withdrew them, but best laid plans....I'd bought 2 to be future predators in a game based on the Primeval TV series. Wish I'd bought more now! You never know, Andy might get chance one day.

Oops, missed that too! I think he may have been planning on rereleasing them though as part of the kickstarter he ran as I saw they were available to purchase in it.

It's a fair way down to see the pics.

They're flagged as KS exclusives so I guess a limited run only for backers.
