Cheap generic African huts
« on: March 22, 2019, 09:50:32 AM »
Not necessarily replicas of any specific origin, but good enough for me to recognize an African setting and -
VERY CHEAP!

I have built some cheap huts for the next Congo game. These are made from a sturdy cardboard ring with some putty on the inside and the outside. That ring is glued on an old CD/CR-ROM with some sand on it.

Detachable roofs are made from a cardboard cone with cut off bristles glued on top (soaked with white glue) and a paper ring glued on the bottom for stiffness and centering. (The new brush cost me less than 2€ in the DIY store and will make a dozen roofs.)

Perfect for native 28mm families (I admit they are large, but you could make smaller ones using this method as well).

Workable.

Many a year ago I found a couple of dozen very cheap little baskets that inverted make nice huts for my 15 mm figures - and they came "painted" because the color was a natural brown in varied tints and shades.
