Prospero Game
« on: March 24, 2019, 10:14:56 AM »
We played a game from Inferno the other day.

I had the persecution force, mainly Vlyka Fenryka, but also important elements of Adeptus Custodes and a very important contribution by the Sisters of Silence.

The Thousand  Sons came out of the gate doing quite well, eliminating my recon squad without much effort. But things went south for them when the Sisters got into range.

Soon psychic powers weren't working and squads were fleeing.

Not that the Rout were immune to that either. At one point the grey slayers ran, which did allow the terminators the perfect opportunity to assault the TSons terminators and wipe them out.

It was a good game but saw the forces under Ahriman in flight across the board.

The moritat was definitely the MVP for the Thousand Sons.  After completely baking a squad of Sisters of Silence (the nasty kind with executioner blades) he managed to run down and destroy the fleeing Grey Slayers.

Difficult to know what their worst unit was.  Most of them did fairly well, the Sekhmet termies held up the Custodes for a while, before they had to take a SoS influenced break test.

For the Persecution forces the Sisters were the best units overall.  The bolter armed ones did nothing to actually damage the enemy but their presence was so unnerving that it really caused a string of fall back results which cost the Thousand Sons more than anything.  Their psychic tests were often failed because of the sisters too.

The unit with executioner blades died before being able to engage, cooked in their armour by the moritat as mentioned above, but the ones with flamers managed to burn a Thousand Sons veteran squad crispy critters.

A fluffy outcome!
Like the board very marbly and white, fitting for Tizca, the wofs had more bodies and quality (custodes) tho

They did, although it was really the sisters that decided the outcome in a lot of ways. The custodes were not that useful, the saggitarum guard never fired, or got stuck in.  The regular guys were stuck in combat with the Sekmet termies, and while they weren't losing, would have been tied up for a while fighting them if it hadn't been for the -2 Ld the sisters gave to the Sekhmets.

The biggest unit of Wolves, 16 grey slayers, ran after their first combat and losing one guy.  They were destroyed bya  Moritat.

Ultimately there were 41 vlyka fenryka, 5 rout termies, 1 character, 10 custodes, 15 sisters, two wolves and a dreadnought against 47 Thousand sons, 10 T-sons termies, 3 characters (2 of them psykers, 1 level 4) a dreadnought, a Castellax and 2 rhinos.

The veteran squads balanced each other.  For the others I'd say two legion squads more than balances the grey slayers.  The sekmets were about the equal of one squad of custodes and the termies balanced.  The occult blades balance at least one sister's squad.

The dreads were about balanced, although the contemptor was a tougher nut to crack than the regular dread, so edge to the thousand sons there.

The rhinos don't really add much.

The Castellax at least matches the Sagitarium guard as far as utility is concerned.

Ahriman and Greigor don't quite balance each other.  I'd say the edge is to the Thousand sons there.

That leaves two squads of sisters vs. the other two thousand sons characters.
