Stalins Sledgehammer - ML-20
« on: March 27, 2019, 11:29:41 AM »
Next 3D print will be Stalin's Sledgehammer the 152mm ML-20 howitzer M1937

It seems to be a large gap in the 28mm ranges at the moment which seems odd.

I'll also be doing the A19 122mm barrel (trail and chassis is the same)

Should I do it with the gun flat or raised?  Problem is that it's going to be hard to make it poseable thanks to the big lifting jacks on the front.  I'm tending towards flat as at 28mm it should be direct firing...  the trails and mount are seperate so the gun can be posed to a degree.

Do it flat, anyone who wants it pointing at the sky can convert it themselves.

The alternative would be make the jacks seperate to the barrel and recoil mech, so the jacks are stationary and the barrel can be posed.
Would look OK but wouldn't be 'right' :o

Flat would get my vote as well, since I'd be using more as direct fire anyway at 28mm.

Maybe just raise it slightly - say 10 degrees as a compromise - if there's enough opinions from both camps?

I have no dog in this particular fight. Just tossing a thought out there. If everyone wants it flat than that becomes pretty unambiguous anyway.

Looking good! Who‘ll sell these later or do you offer the .STL files?
My vote is for flat btw.

No one is lined up yet, I'll put the STL up for sale.

Finished last night, checked this morning looks OK but left it dripping resin in the printer as I had to go to work!  Will update later tonight.
It basically fills the print bed - it's pretty huge!

First print.

Slight adjustment made to the model to fix it.

Looks rather mighty indeed. Do you plan on adding munitions stacks or something along those lines?

:o Awesome! That‘s just the kind of stuff I love to have on my table. Now when and where can I get hold of that STL?   ;)
