Burrows & Badgers - All the Kings Men
« on: March 29, 2019, 02:33:49 PM »
I took a trip to a games show in Sheffield last weekend and as is quite usual, I got all googly eyed having seen the Oathsworn miniatures made to accompany the Burrows & Badgers rules, along with the Sarissa laser cut building kits.

Rules are nice and easy, and the game won’t hurt my pocket as you play with a handful of very nicely priced minis.

So,  working on the rule of cool, I have put together this little band of warriors.  I have a marmot figure coming to finish the company.

I think I shall have a little fun scratching scenery suitable for the game.  Don’t expect a lot too soon, more of a slow ramble (you’ve seen how slow in Vulture Creek).

I agree, it is a line of figures that has often tempted me.

In like the idea that the fate of the king is left up to the players.

I think I will wrap the story around my little band that they have returned from overseas duty where they had been carrying out the kings orders.

They find their home kingdom sliding into ruin, and set out on a quest to discover the kings fate.

The band consists of

Captain Hartley - Hare
Sgt Pepe le Chew - Beaver
Catnip Evergreen - Squirrel archer
Nibbletrick - Squirrel magician
William Tail - Mouse archer
Chuck Berries - Marmot

Welcome to the "rabbit hole"  :D

Building suitable terrain is fairly easy, think Disney's Robin hood or Redwall.

It’s a lot of fun. I’ve got those minis and have painted many up. I’ve got a game tomorrow evening of Burrows and Badgers at the Pit Gaming Store in Borehamwood. Shame you’re obviously so far up north. You could join us!

Cheers for the offer!

Actually I’m in the process of moving down to just outside Stratford on Avon so will soon be looking for new gaming buddies.

Meanwhile, I will just crack on and try to get some painting done.

Ok, so I always get the urge to print sat outdoors and today was nice and dry.

So my first painted mini is Sgt Pepe le Chew.  As you can tell, like all the best fellas, he hails from Yorkshire!

Had our first game tonight.  Simple action to get used to the rules.  When I first read them I thought they were a little simple but there are some nice twists and the very tricky and important decisions to be made in applying the right skills and equipment to your war band.  Loved the way the wounds start to affect the performances and pretty impressed.  I can see myself having a lot of fun....

A few more figures to paint tomorrow.
