.....and for this period, I will be mainly using:

The War of Three Kings is the latest incarnation of the Beneath the Lily Banners rules from The League of Augsberg. This is the 3rd edition and refines the game play allowing users to focus on enjoying the spectacle created by miniature gaming one of history’s most colourful periods. The War of Three Kings offers the opportunity for games set between 1660-1721 to be played with simple yet elegant mechanisms which delivers a smooth playing experience, authentic period flavour and loads of fun.

1672.

After a lack of designer wanting to work on this range, I've now bribed Mike Owen of Artizan Design to take it on.

Dragoon Command first, then the Spanish, then Characters/ Generals. After that skirmishers and armed peasants.

Including mounted French dragoon command, I take it ?

Has anyone got some scale comparison pictures of the Northstar 1672 range?  :)

I think the range mixes well with Front Rank miniatures.

I love the period. Admittedly ACW has taken over recently, but luckily I got 1672 armies for both sides finished while the enthusiasm was high, so I can pull them off the shelf anytime. Part of the reason the range hasn't been added to for so long is figure designers going 'nah' when I've offered it them. Mr Copplstone has put it behind him, Mark Sims said nah, three others walked away after a few packs...BUT, Mike Owen is keen! He's already done the Dragoon Command standing, he'll be on the mounted soon and he's started the Spanish.

Please excuse my ignorance, but the Northstar 1672 range is stated as suitable for 1665 – 1680 and the Front Rank range 1685 – 1700.

Is there much of a difference in dress from 1665 – 1700 so that both ranges are interchangeable and usable for the entirety of this period?

North Star is best for the 1670s, Front Rank for 1680-1690s. Of course there is some overlap in many armies. The last half of the 17th century saw a rapid change in military fashion. I think the uniforms of 1700 are closer to the style of 1750 than the style of 1665. Spain is probably the biggest exception. They tended to retain old styles longer, at least until the WSS.

Thanks for the reply. Does anyone do flags for the period?
