Warlords of Erehwon, event, UPDATED 13th July
« on: April 09, 2019, 01:01:19 PM »
Hi guys,
Just testing the water so to speak.
I’m thinking of running more of an event than serious tournament. A single days gaming over a weekend.
I’m based in Manchester and have access to Element Games in Stockport.
It’s an ideal gaming centre, with great facilities, including a bar!

Warlords of Erehwon is a relatively new game so it won’t be that serious, say 3 games at 1000pts per side.

It will be a non profit event, but a small charge needed to cover Element games charges etc. Probably £5, so it won’t break the bank.
I’m confident we will be able to get prize support from Warlord Games.

I’ve organised plenty of events back in the day, so I’m ok from that side of things. I’m just wondering if anyone would be interested?

To keep in spirit of the event, I expect the best prize would go to the best painted and themed army, rather than the top player. But who knows, prizes for those places too.

Currently looking at early July sometime.

Anyhow, enough rambling from me, any thoughts?

Ok

We have confirmed a date from Element Games.
Saturday 13th July.

I’m hoping to get a link organised direct from the web page so event tickets can be bought online.

Apparently we have 20 or so people interested over on Facebook.

Thanks for looking.

Oh, yes good idea.
Thanks.

I wanted to keep it in the fantasy section, because it’s quite specific.

No bother with that at all. It makes sense to keep it here.

Quick update,
I’ve got the ball rolling with Warlord Games and the Venue.
I’m hoping to be able to put a link up for ticket sales and Facebook soon.

Just to remind you guys interested, this event will not be hard core tournament. It’s just for players to get used to the new rules set and meet fellow WoE gamers. We will try to pair up players in each round with someone they haven’t played before.
Prizes for best painted and best themed forces.

Cheers

14 places left for the event.
Hopefully we’ll have a rules pack posted on the Facebook page by tonight.
I say rules pack, it’s pretty easy going stuff!

Success!

We have sponsorship from Wargames Atlantic in the form of a nice brand new shiny box of the new Skeletons!
So prizes up for grabs.
Just waiting for Warlord to get back in touch.

Less than four weeks to go chaps.

We have odd numbers on entry, this isn’t a major problem, but an extra recruit would be welcomed please!

In fact quite a few tickets left.

Thanks

Well today went well.
As usual playing with a  concentrated group lets you find some rules you may have been playing wrong or different.
A very friendly easy going affair.
Prizes for Best Painted army, bottom place, and best general.

Scenarios were,

First, “An Unexpected Encounter” page 118
6 turns only. NO Army Break Point rule.

Second, “The Sacred Relic” page 124
6 turns, dice for a 7th if necessary.
NO Army Break Point rule.

Third, “A Bloody Encounter” page 116
6 turns or earlier.
This DID use Army Break Point rule.

All worked well and kept players on their toes.
1000pt armies were used, as this allowed plenty of toys on the table but not big enough to allow anything too powerful.
We allowed up to 25% monsters.

Things we found out,
You really REALLY don’t want to get charged when your unit is down!
Barbarian mammoth is awesome.
The Chunder rule is very good.

Mario got prize for Best Painted and Top General!
His all spider forest goblin army is superb.
Andrew ‘won’ the last place prize, with his Olympians.
But he smiled all day, as did the rest of us.

Many thanks to Wargames Atlantic for fantastic prize support and Element Games in Stockport for hosting.
