Teeny Tiny Random Robot
« on: April 11, 2019, 07:36:49 AM »
Just realized I didn't share this here before, a couple of months ago I had a sudden urge to 3d print an anime style robot. Of course being the cheap ass I am I went for a tiny size, just under 2,5cm in fact.

Not the clearest pictures but I was quite happy with how it turned out. I have been toying around with the idea of doing a bit of a series of these with universal joint connections.

Cool; an Epic scale (or even smaller?) mecha line! 8)

Great work, both on the 3D design(s) and the painting! Now give us more; those tank teaser pics are looking pretty promising too!

These might even combine well with the smaller Japanese space ship kits from lines like Battleship Yamato etc... :)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Thanks! This was one of those paint jobs that just flows on.

Yeah I'm aiming at 6mm, I like small agile mechs in small scales. Though These can work as medabots like mini robots in 28mm as well. (now there is a niche) And which tanks, it has been nothing but tanks from me this year  :D

As for ships, I only have one of the smaller kits, so it gets a bit silly, but I do also like the idea of fleet scale mechs.

I have been thinking about doing a sprawling cyberpunk style city board for a long time now. I think there is a lot of potential for just using caps and packaging and doing zenith priming with some splashes of color for neon and the like.

Lie some of the impressionistic anime styles? That would be very good.

Ideally yes, I figure that for a urban environment at that scale its more about dense texture and shadow gradients than color, something like this:

Introducing limited specific splotches of color would add to that I think. Neon, maybe loud billboards, some rooftop gardens maybe. Its something I've been stewing on for a while now. if nothing else I don't have nearly enough actual buildings to use for it. One of those things where a laser cutter would be better than a high end 3d printer, id say.  o_o

Hah! Only when you posted in the most recent Battletetech thread did I realize that the tank pictures I was referring to were actually part of your (humongous lol ) signature!

That’s a really neat little figure, love the idea of the mechs battling through a cityscape!
