Some updated pictures of the Cathedral WIP:

Bricks are blue foam blocks, shingles are just individual cuts of cardboard.

I figure everything else is an easy enough guess.  ;)

Windows will be filled with some stained glass by way of Shrinky-Dinks. Wife made one for the rear window and it came out like a champ. Now she is on the hook for making me four more  lol

Lovely terrain, will there be a tower as well?

On the cathedral? Maybe... For now, it is what it is. Part of the goal of my project was to easily fit it in a bankers box in the basement. So all of the terrain bits are toned down a fair bit to help with that. Still, I could probably whip up a piece that sits on top of the Cathedral, once some of the other more pressing items are taken care of. For instance, the Cathedral will have its own terrain tile, and I need to knock that out before I get too much deeper into fussing with this piece. Then there is a tile for the cave entrance, and portal to hell. The Cathedral tile will have the Catacombs entry as well.

Here are a few scenic pictures of the overall progress to date:

And a more bird's eye view of the overall town. Hopefully, withing 1-2 weeks this will be all wrapped up and I'll be focusing on the Cathedral tile/cave tile.

It’s really nice to see such frequent progress! And it brings fond memories back of the game that made me upgrade to Windows 95... lol

This project feels a little glacial to me, at times. Glad it looks frequent! I'm sharing time between this, 28mm post apoc, and a 15mm sci-fi project. I try to get a little done on each, every week. But some weeks are heavier in one project or another.

I've only played the original once, many many years ago, but I immediately recognised this! Nice!

Finally got around to painting the roof on the Cathedral. Work on this particular set is coming along slowly. I have made a little progress on the town, primarily in terms of working on the Inn, and sculpting some little pieces for the Mystical Emporium. My post apocalypse gaming has taken a bit of my time, but I suspect I will be back to this in short order.

Until then, some small updates to the Cathedral.

My son's girlfriend is coming into town this weekend, so I have cleaned up my terrain building workshop (dining room table) and will be focusing on painting miniatures for the next few days.

Capital stuff! Just blundered in on this thread, and it is quite inspirational to see how you recreate the setting of the game!
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Thanks, everyone, for the support. This is my first fumbling around with 15mm, and it has been really fun. Different. I'm hoping to get some more character figures painted up this week, and then back to the terrain.

Great, that town place really looks familiar. Such a cool project, all the best for it!

I think that I'm pretty well finished with the warrior equipment set. Left to right: Birr-zerker, Yellow Harmony, Red Bulwark.

Yellow Harmony close up:

And the Birr-zerker close up (90% finished):

I should be working through the rogue and sorcerer kit sets this week as well.

The first set of Fallen (archers) have been painted up and are table ready:

Rogue equipment sets (Left to right): Short range/stealth, Mid range heavy-slow hitter, Long range fast light damage.

Sorcerer equipment sets (L to R): Lightning, Ice, Fire

I don't know how much the picture shows, but I'm hoping that the bases for the sorcerers evoke a feeling of oozing with magical power. The lightning sorcerer will have some lightning bolts crackling about his feel, the cold sorcerer will have a wave of frost in front of her, and the fire sorcerer will have cracks in the ground with magma coming forth. I have started to plan out the creation of some unique area of effect templates for them as well. I would like this group, particularly, to have a more cinematic feel.

Today's update is the completion of my scratch built pipe cleaner trees"

Full group shot:

Medium tree (left) and largely dead small tree (right)

Large dead tree and small gnarled tree

Trees are pipe cleaner twisted and wrapped over a penny for a base. Pipe cleaner was then coated liberally in wood glue and allowed to dry. The whole thing was then coated in pva/spackle mix (about 50/50% mix), and allowed to dry. At that point... well, my painting took a while. I started out lighter than I should have for the undercoat, and subsequent dry brushing and washes basically got me to where I landed. I like the look of them, but I will go about the whole thing differently the next time. I have a couple larger trees in the works for my 28mm world. I suppose these would work ok as small dead trees in 28mm. A bit scale agnostic, so to speak.

Although I haven't played Diablo myself (my wife, on the other hand, is a master player), I really enjoy your project! Especially the magicians with their different bases!

Thanks, Ockman (and others) for the encouragement and feedback. This has been a nice little break from my normal 28mm post apoc stuff. A different way to flex my creative muscles, I suppose.
