This project isn't dead by a long shot. I have been making some progress, though it has been glacial at times. I went ahead and glued all of the cork tiles to MDF board a little over a week ago, and I've made some progress on the Cathedral tiles as well. This will come back with a vengeance once I get the dungeon pieces in. Then all I have to do is find a suitable rule set. I had kicked around some home brew rules, but my experience with 5 Parsecs has been so good that I can see using Nordic Weasel's fantasy rule set. The solo play is just that good.

Ah, how did I miss this?????  Thanks for the "necromancy!" Wonderful thread.

I think I'll steal some great inspiration for my languishing 15mm RoSD campaign.  I lost all motivation when, after flocking, my terrain board warped horribly.  Just what I needed to get back to it, I think.

Is it thredomancy if I'm just continuing my project? Even at a glacial pace?  :?

Well, I'm still waiting on the "real" Diablo dungeon terrain. Like everything else, the Kickstarter projects I bought for this are all delayed. Such is life. In the meantime, I've been working on a set of ten scale/genre agnostic cave tiles. MDF bases are all 6"x6". Cave walls are 20mm tall and made from corrugated cardboard bent to my maniacal whims! Or, just shaped into some cave-like rooms. This is the first three painted.

The entry/mount of the cave (there will be two versions of this so there can be an entrance and exit if it becomes a tunnel).

This is the first of two straight halls.

This is a T-junction. There is also a 4-way junction in the set.

The first three tiles put together:

And some intrepid heroes  exploring the caves:

Since there is nothing in here but rocks and dirt, I'm planning on using these pieces across all of my games at some point. Drop in some set dressing to set a scene and that is about all that will be needed.

So, barring the existence of any true Diablo dungeon, which is in the production stage, I'm just working on this a bit at a time as time and fancy allow.

I also still haven't settled on a rule set, but I think there are some things in development which may lend themselves well to my particular needs. In particular, I'm curious to see what the new Nightwatch game may present (Patrick Todoroff of Zona Alpha and Hardwired rule sets). Honestly, I'm not all that worried about solo play rules. I can hash that out on my own. What I am hopeful for is some high fantasy rules that capture bigger than life heroes. An initial perusal shows that I think it will do the job. Nightwatch is also focused on hunting monsters and earning renown within a guild (fighter, assassin, alchemy and mancer which I assume includes some necromancy stuff) which also fits the Diablo trope pretty well. Rules come out in August, so I'm hoping I can get my hands on it quickly, and that dungeon terrain follows quickly behind!

Great looking cave tiles!

I used corrugated cardboard for my cave walls too, you can camouflage the cardboard by running a bead of hotglue accros the top.

Cheers,
Stroezie.

Now all you need is the cave lake so that the goatmen archers have somewhere to be annoying behind.

I had considered covering the corrugation, but frankly it doesn't bother me and the light color gives it a nice defined edge against the black of the tile. I'll probably just call it good enough for my solo game play needs  :)

No beast-men yet. They are sitting in hell's waiting room... or my unpainted lead pile, if you will. What I do have are skeletons! I snapped a couple more pictures in some new cave pieces.

I need to paint more scatter for the caves. Some rubble piles with old pots, etc The stuff I have is really better suited for a dungeon.

As soon as the Nightwatch rules come out I'm going to throw a game together in the caves and see how it goes.

Thanks, Skully. Here are all the tiles (sans one of the entrances).

Something to build on, for sure. I saw that Nightwatch was released in electronic format, which means that the hard copy will be here soon. Once I have that, I'm going to put this cave to the test and give my mini-Diablo a test run. Come to think of it, I really need to finish up my town!
