Trawler WIP
« on: 15 June 2009, 08:59:53 AM »
First of all, I want to admit my shameless inspiration to this beautiful project: :-*

And now, my own ship.

Please, if you have any question, or further suggestions, let me know! :)

Very nice,

I'm hoping the soon-to-be-released Minimi trawler looks half as good as the ones you and gamer Mac made.

Thank you, Mac.

Of course the masts are old brushes.
Or new ones: 1 Euro per 6 -useless- Chinese brushes. ;)

The fittings for connecting the masts and at the top of the main mast (for connecting the riggings) are lead sheet.
The pulley is a brush section. Assemblied with a thin metallic wire.

BTW have a look at the new pliers I bought (in the workbench section), almost indespensable for bending the rails on the cabin roof.

Ciao!

Here the first pictures of the painted trawler.
I'll have to add tons of rust, and, of course, add the windows detail as well as the riggings.

Hope you like her. :)

Any question, comment, suggestion is welcome!

WoW!  :-*

Now all you need is an island, some fog… and a giant beast!  lol

And it doesn't even look too hard to build. I mean that in a positive way, mind you. Even I could actually try to build a ship like that. Thank you so much, I needed that.

Thank you boys!

Mad, yes she is. 28mm, as you can guess from the Pulp Figures chatting on the deck.  :D

Calimero, actually I was thinking of a strange and secret device to be transported in a strange and secret Norvegian fjiord, when suddenly something goes wrong: the device exploded/zombies erupt from under the deck/a giant squid try to eat the device (and the crew)/a Nazi U-Boot surfaces and... WHOOPPS THIS has to be a secret! ;)

Doom, not hard at all! Have a try! It depends on the level of detail you like to add. Keeping the details low, this is a project to be complted in a handful of evenings! If you need some info, please ask!

Ciao
Marco

Looking brilliant but still need some rust. ;)

Very nice, indeed.  Considering the style it is painted in, I would strongly recommend a firm wash with either the new Vallejo Sepia wash or the GW variant.  The white superstructure would do with a Vallejo black wash (this is not the Vallejo ink!) or the Devlan Mud wash from GW.

Gonna need a bigger boat...

lol

Sorry couldn't resist.

Absolutely lovely!

A little bit of plastic strip around the edges would look nice, with a few rivets too? Oh and don't forget a plimsoll line mark:

Cheers
