HOTT with 80mm width bases
« on: April 13, 2019, 04:41:17 PM »
So I have been thinking more about playing HOTT with 15mm figures but 25mm style bases. I really like the look of the game and the bases start to look like proper units. The 60mm width bases that Dragonfrog games produce are great. With the little pop out bases that suit 15mm figures. But I have loads of 15mm HOTT armies based 40mm width. So the obvious thing to do is go up to 80mm width.

I asked Martin to knock me up some bases and I think they work. I can use my current 15mm armies with no rebasing. Maybe need to look at the ranges etc but we are all ready to go for mass battle games.

I am basing the Orc pike as behemoth as seems appropriate.

These look good! Great idea to use double frontages (and much simpler than rebasing).

As for ranges, isn't there a mechanism in the HOTT rulebook for just scaling everything up with frontages?

Looks good what you are doing .
Have you had a look at Sword and Spear Fantasy set of rules . i use my 15mm on 80mm frontage as well. I started off with HOTT but wanted more troops on the table  :D

Good Luck with your project hope it does not take too long to base all your stuff up , i hate rebasing stuff.

happy gaming LR

I base my 15mm fantasy on 80mm frontage.  They can be used for a number of rule sets and the lay out can look really good.
