29 Lets Go - Chain of Command Game Five
« on: April 14, 2019, 05:03:25 PM »
Our CoC campaign continued this week with game five and the US attempt to take the Cardonville Radar Station.

Although the game never got past turn one, the action proved a game of two halves as the advantage and initiative swung dramatically from one side to the other.

Interesting game! We have yet to play Chain Of Command yet, it's on our to-do list.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :

figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted

I'm interested in trying it too - work seems to keep getting in the way though  :(

Don't do it! - once you're hooked, that will be it.

I originally intended to do some cheap desert forces using the Perry plastics, as I hadn't done any WW2 in 28mm, and it seemed like a cheap thing, plus I had a 30 quid voucher for Dave Thomas' stuff at a show, and there you go. So far, I now have painted (or the figures) to do:
Desert War British, Germans + supports,
NWE British, Germans + supports
Early War French, Germans + supports
Soviets plus supports
British Airborne + supports
US Airborne + supports
US Army for Italy (Perry)
Early War Fallschirmjager + supports

It just grows on you...    and highly recommended. If you want to be inspired, check out these two blogs:

Thanks for your comments chaps, I hope I have inspired a will to have a go with the rules, although I would agree with Shahbahraz that they are rather addictive once you get to grips with them.

I now have plans to revamp part of my IABSM collection to better fit them for CoC.

Looks good - is it with 15mm figures?

Chain of Command is great - we need to play it more, haven't played for ages, probably as it suits 2 player games best, and we often have multiple players.

Yes 15mm, a scale that seems to really capture the empty battlefield look.

Indeed it does. We played with 10mm figures mainly (as that is the scale in which I have most WWII stuff) and while a little fiddly with the figures, it really captures the ground scale to figure scale very well. I do think 15mm is probably the sweet spot between ground scale / figure scale matching up well, and the practicalities of recognising and moving individual figures.
