We have added an Armoured African Elephant "Hercules" to our ranges to mark our 10th anniversary. This is a set and not various parts to be ordered. It has a 2 piece howdah but we have added a 3rd side with a causality lying over the side. The crew consists of a pikeman, an archer, a javelinman and a mahout. Shields and weapons as shown are included.

Thanks to all that have supported us over the past 10 years.

This set is available now in limited numbers( we will be getting more just need them cast for us).

Thanks again to you all.

Lovely model  :)

Forgive the question but the lamellar armour on the ele seems upside down. I'm assuming it's accurate of course, just never really seen it that way before?
cheers

I asked Adam, it is shown like that in the Montfort books and the Concorde book. It is from a small terracotta statue that has them that way. It sort of makes sense if they are being attacked from a lower height.

A really beautiful model and superbly painted. Is there any chance of having the crew made available separately?

And of course, congratulations to Aventine on 10 years in the business. They really do a lovely range of miniature (especially the Successors) and Keith is an absolute pleasure to deal with.

Here’s to the next 10 years!

Thanks for the kind words.

Separate crew can be done, just email us and we will sort something out.

So nicely done!

I find these super heavy elephants to be a bit of a lark. Nobody has done a test to see if that much bronze could be worn by an elephant, especially these head pieces! If they were bronzed I reckon they would be wood faced with thin bronze like hoplite shields.

Still the models stir the imagination and remind of my youth when the only ancient army books I had were in French and had this lovely Funcken illustration that may not be very accurate, in elephant type for Epirus, or the Romans adequately equipped, but the dramatic image surely inspires!

I cant wait to receive mine- to add to the ever growing collection of fine Aventine models.

Congratulations on ten years.
It still makes me smile to see tap dancing elephants. You were just starting up when I made the first tap dancing resin elephants.( before then they were all four feet on the ground there was a mad rush over a season of shows to revamp elephants by companies )now its the goto pose.Which was fun to watch over the course of year.
I particularly like your version as it includes several modern interpretations of the armour .
Looking forward to future release over the next ten years.

Mark.
