So how did La' Legion Fare?

Did not get much done yesterday and will achieve little today but hopefully tomorrow and Monday will see some development worth reporting.  ;)

Love your painted French.
May I ask, with your Danger Close rules,
how many figures are on the table.

They are designed for up to 15 figures aside but we are messing with them to expand the mechanism to larger games. This game is really part of that test as well as looking to produce a Vietnam specific version of the rules.

The French plan was to take the main force along the track to the village. a section was sent across country on the flanks to protect this move.

Vietminh rolled successfully and started to bring units on. The command and MMG came on next to the village and moved in to occupy it and set up to defend.

An infantry company came on down the table and swiftly moved towards the track to block it. Having set up an ambush they were spotted and so decided to charge the leading French unit.

On the left flank another Vietminh unit came onto the table and originally moved to outflank the force on the track. However they quickly changed facing as they were in danger of being outflanked from one of the advancing flank units.

Having hunkered down they prepared to ambush the French unit who did not spot them probably being too busy crossing the stream.

The French main force arrives and is able to support the retiring (running away) section on the left flank.

The Vietminh retire back in the centre.

On the right flank the French advance unopposed and make good headway against the difficult terrain.

A French recoilless gun sets up on the high ground to the rear and from this position is able to oversee much of the battlefield. However this quickly become a bad place to be when the Vietminh entre the table immediately to the units right flank. Time to pack up and run away methinks. But can they do this in the time available????  o_o :? :-[ :o

Exciting or what????

Tons of great photos. To bad the French could not match the Viet-Minh this time.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.
