I'd say that's something you're just going to run into with professional soldiers with rigid drill positions. I do think row upon row of almost identically positioned men is sort of the point, but I also agree that a bit of variety with the odd fella scratching his head, or reloading his rifle, or swigging from a water bottle, would break it up nicely and add some life.

Indeed , that’s them for me . Doing a load of skirmishing types from this pack is indeed hard . The mahdists boxes give a lot more variety

Finished the 4 infantry units.
That felt like a chore. And as I said I’ve built hundreds of their figures before.
Here are the madhists. A joy to put together.
Just some cavalry, captured guns and command to do. Brits have camel corp, cavalry, Scots and sailors to do. All metal!!

I find these ok to do. But indeed build time is always a downside on plastics

Indeed... but it is more representative of the talent of the painter than of the quality of the miniatures.
