Frostgrave on the cheap....Felix Copyius Maximus.

If your budget is limited, like mine, Why not copy things you like? I saw a GW tower that is no longer made for sale on ebay for over 200 quid! "This can not stand" I said. So I made my own version of said tower.
I found as many pictures of the tower online that I could find, including pictures of the sprues and the base. I also found an unboxing video in which the happy owner mentioned that the base was 7.5 inches wide. Once I had this vital measurement I managed to calculate the dimensions of the remaining pieces. I have now made 3 towers and lots of other features for little or no cost.

I added some water and a few tufts to the first tower. I also saw a second tower that someone made, using a pringles tube...so tasty and salty and curvy...sorry, I got a bit distracted there! Anyway, I use the right click, save picture as buttons all the time. My Frostgrave folder has about 500 photos of terrain pieces and miniatures and I am copying everything I can. The guy who has a site called Black magic craft does great terrain. I copied his dungeon tiles and scatter walls exactly and they look great. His piece on starting Frostgrave Helped me decide to take the plunge and start painting minis and making terrain again. Like J P, after a break of about 30 years! I also love Mel the terrain tutor guy. I have copied a lot of his stuff. Anyway here is the 2nd tower.

I applied my "on the cheap" mantra to the boards as well. I collected some pics of various snowy mats and combined the elements which I liked the best. Black magic Craft guy uses a 1 inch grid for his tiles and I copied these and his dungeon walls too. Anyway, when it came to making my own board I used 2 pieces of 9mm mdf [easier to store] 36 inches by 18 inches and primed them with some left over ceiling paint! I repeated the 1 inch grid for the slabs that were appearing beneath the snow drifts and painted the boards using a cheap set of acrylic tubes from Aldi! The painted grid on the board matches up with the BMC real tiles so they work well together. By the way I also painted the back of the board for a more grassy effect, again looking at some mats online for inspiration. These were going to be for WW2, Normandy battles. But now I might try Rangers of shadow deep on that side. I painted the boards joined together so the join would not be so noticeable. My painting style is a bit impressionistic...You have to imagine Claude Monet setteling down for a game of frosrgrave with Degas and maybe Pissarro!

The game boards are really effective and look great with your terrain pieces.
