ECW civilians?
« on: May 05, 2019, 11:09:49 PM »
Not having any luck finding civilians/unarmed types for the ECW.

I've been seduced by the Witchfinder/Gadzooks Gunpowder fantasy genre (sorry purists) and am I need of some innocent, or not-so, bystanders, as well as some Wurzel types waving farm impliments.

Im using Warlord and the closest they come are the rather limited Clubmen, the plastic pikemen have some conversion potential, but that leaves me short of women.

Probably pushing my luck - by are there any ECW zombies about or am I going to have to mangle random plastic zombie/ghoul sprues?

Anyone know of anything else?

Thanks

Warlord do some civilians.

https://store.warlordgames.com/products/pike-shotte-townsfolk

https://store.warlordgames.com/products/pike-shotte-villagers

There are also the clubmen/militia as you point out.  Redoubt also do 17th century civilians as part of their Musketeer range, as do Warbases now.

I looking forward to getting into Gadzooks as well so interested in 17th century zombies as well  :)

Foundry do some

https://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/english-civil-war/products/ecw036-civilians

https://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/english-civil-war/products/ecw062-villagers

As for zombies but the god awful GW warhammer zombies (no I don't like them) could be given an ECW sort of vibe to them. Inexplicably they are still for sale

Pendraken has some attractive ones.

Eureka have some coming out. Witchfinders, witches etc. Saw them in their shop about a fortnight ago.

Bicorne do some civilians and club men

Foundry & Redoubt have both been mentioned.

Bridge miniatures do some '3 musketeers' (1620s) armed civiliains  (footpads, brawlers, armed ladies). Brigade Games do swashbucklers and have some civilians.

If you are post 1670s, then Frontrank and League of Ausberg both do Monmouth Rebellion, which will have armed militia types. The brigade games King Phillips War range has armed pilgrims.

Selectively choosing from some pirate ranges could work. Likewise some of the plainer Foundry Elizabethan Swashbucklers could could move forward in time

Regarding zombies, check some of the fantasy lines.  Blue Moon Miniatures (sold by Old Glory) has several zombie packs and one is designed for a pre-modern era: https://www.oldglory25s.com/view_product.php?product=BMM111A

Mantic Games' Kings of War Undead have zombies and ghouls that might be usable:

http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/kings-of-war/undead/product/undead-zombie-swarm-40-figures.html

I used all of these in a Pride and Prejudice and Zombies game I ran a few years ago:   http://bogdanwaz.blogspot.com/2015/02/pride-and-prejudice-and-zombies-playtest.html

Possibly not a recommendation for purists but The Assault group have a pack of Tudor women which might work for you? For zombies maybe try mixing a box of the warlord firelock plastics with mantic zombie bits?

Cheers chaps,

Plenty to be getting on with there - and embaressingly obvious lines I should have spotted beforehand.

Thanks for the Zombie recommendations - Bogdanwaz, thats an impressive collection, I really should have spent more time searching this board.

Thanks all.

They hide them under the "Wagons+++" category, because that makes perfect sense...  ::)

Anyone able to weigh in on how Bicorne and Colonel Bill figures look alongside Warlord or The Assault Group/TAG figures?
