Get to the Boat
« on: May 07, 2019, 11:00:32 AM »
We had a fascinating game last weekend. It was a very clever scenario. The mission was to evacuate the Governor General and his staff from the Government House to the rescuing boat.  His staff included a British unit as an escort.  The rescue force had to enter the rebellious city and try get the Governor and his stuff safe to the boat. The city was full of enemies emerging from Hot Spots inside the city. A great idea by Dan G. You may see the original game [played in 2017] here: http://laststanddan.blogspot.com/2017/
I tried to recreate the game and I successfully did so. Here are a few pics from my weekend game

This time the Governor was not lucky. He didnt make it to the boat and was killed by the angry mob. Better luck next time

That looks excellent and an interesting scenario. What rules were used?

A great set-up! 'Rescue the Governor' is one of my favourite scenarios. There's scope for all kinds of trouble for the British forces.

Thank you for your kind words Doug. The rules used were "The Men Who Would Be Kiings" with only a few [very small] ammendments made by Dan for the street fightng. It worked very well.

Always nice to see our Greek friends enjoying themselves. Food and drink in the background. I approve. :)

Good looking cityscape. I recognize some of those buildings, I have one or two of them in my own collection.

Other life obligations deprived me from the joy of participating  :-[
Miltiades you promise to offer compensation this Saturday, we'll play another colonial scenario!

As it concerns the Arab Town, I was watching for years Miltiades scratchbuilding his town piece by piece, painting and repainting the same item until he was satisfied with the weathering. I had the joy to make a photoshooting of it, in an older thread.

Apart from the Caravan Sarai (Italeri I think) and a cardboard miniature imitation of Taj-Mahal, the rest was made by Miltiades, but he's always too shy to speak more about it.  :D

Militates, Beautiful table, as always sir! I love that scenario too, big fun. I played it with Last Stand Dan at one of the HMGS-South cons in Florida. He really designed a great scenario there. We’ve played it with The Sword And The Flame several times, switching sides and always have a fun time. As you say he’s also made arrangements to play it with TMWWBK as well.

I guess I must be mistaken then. Good work, Militiades. But at least one of them is an almost identical design to a building I have (though in a different scale by the looks of it - mine was 15mm).  :)

Thank you Plynkes... No. You are not mistaken. There are a few buildings from a commercial company, [it is probably Hovels]. They are very well sculpted and of course they are all 15 mm.   There is also the so [inappropriately] called "African House" from Italeri. Its scale is 1:72 but it fits perfectly to my 15 mm town. So does the cardboard imitation of Taj Mahal  mentioned by DintheDin. And there is also a small part of wall by Oshiro, it also fits perfectly to the whole scenic. I am always adding items in the town, so it keeps growing   :D. Cheers
