Rip in Space-Time
« on: May 10, 2019, 12:19:27 PM »
OK, so I have moved back in with my ex-wife after 8 years of being separated. There has been unexpected consequences for my future wargaming. So far as I can work out, this unexpected event has caused a rip in the fabric of Space-Time. In it's effort to locally repair itself, the Universe has allowed some things to happen that were physically impossible in the old order of things.
In short, I am going to have a dedicated Wargames Room/shed in the garden.  :o :o ;D
Looking at designs and prices now.
My friend flatpack has such a shed, so I will be leaning on him for pointers, but does anyone else have any experience or advice?
I plan to insulate the inside and install lights and power points .
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :
figures bought: 500+
figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

Paint it blue.

It's got to be BIGGER on the inside of course, James!  lol

I've had one of these for over 20 years as a wargames Emporium.

Get multiple good locks for any doors and windows, make sure the thing is leakproof and get as much of your storage under the table and over head height as possible.

Make sure you are fully aware and plan for requirements regards wiring for electricity.

Don't know the distances involved between house and new hobby abode, but you want to get it right as can be a lot of work, and you don't want to have to do it twice.

Parkinson's law is the adage that "work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion". My further advice would be to resist the Wargaming Butterfly version of this Law that "a wargaming collection expands to fill the space available for it's storage"

All being well, we are about to move in a month or so and for the first time ever I will have a wargaming cave, with space for a table as well. I intend to keep this law in mind and try to resist it although no doubt it's gravitational pull will eventually erode my self discipline.

On a practical note;

Ensure you have electricity.

I don’t think you have that quite right. I am sure it is “expands to exceed the space...”
