1644 and all that!
« on: May 11, 2019, 11:21:13 AM »
Played a game of 1644 with a Pal's paper figures. Had to use dice for casualties as 1644 rules are figure removal. Fun to play with

The Scots

New Model Army

What flank attack

Oh that one!

If it isn't enjoyable, it isn't gaming!

Looks like an interesting and fun game . Good to see the paper troops ‘ en masse ‘ , well done . ✔️

Have fun (seriously), but I just don't get it.
The laws of probability do not apply to my dice in wargames or to my finesses in bridge.

They look good. I’ve got several of the Peter Dennis books with these figures in. But I’ve never got round to cutting any out.

The figures look good. We used to use these rules quite a bit back in the day; they have some nice concepts like the morale ladder and the way cavalry melees escalate. The thing we disliked was the very deterministic casualty system. You know you will cause (for instance) 2 casualties with a 50% chance of a third, but you definitely won't cause 0 or 1 or 4, and 5 is right out.
Excellent campaign system as well we played that (using the rules) and it was great fun.
