Good evening all - the Canberra Gamers are hosting a two day BOB event at WINTERCON 2019, 20th July to 21st July here in Canberra at Epic - this a public participation game so come along and joint in
The game will be themed around the seizure of Bukhara 1920 - and the forces will including infantry, Cavalry Artillery, Tanks, Armoured cars and aircraft.

The nations involved will be Russian, Red & White, British, Turks, Germans, and Bukhara with their Islamic Allies

Will the Khan of Bukhara - Emir Said Mir Mohammed Alim Khan hold onto his emirate or will it be swallowed up into the greater Bolshevik Empire

Will the British and Turks support the khan or do they have other ideas about expansion

Event Information

Bukhara Campaign Format Wintercon 2019

The event will comprise 4 games over the two days. Each game will last for 3 hours the format of the two days being organised as follows:

Day 1
0900 to 0939 - Players brief and battle allocation (scenario issue)
0930 to 1230 Game one – (3 tables in play 3 hours to play the scenario) Lunch and wander 1230 to 1330
1330 to 1630 Game two - (3 tables in play 3 hours to play the scenario)

Day 2
0900 to 1200 Game three – (3 tables in play 3 hours to play the scenario)
Lunch and wander (final game set up) 1200 to 1330
1330 to 1700 Game four - Bukhara - (1 large table in play 3.5 hours to play the scenario – only forces will participate fighting for the city of Bukhara)

Armies in Play and army Rules
The event will be played as a mini campaign comprising three initial battles – Games 1,2 and 3, each game controlled by a scenario, winning or losing the scenario will have a consequence for all players going into their next game.

The final showdown - Game 4. This will comprise an all-in battle where opposing armies will attempt to breach the high walls of Bukhara either to support it the Emir, own it the city or subjugate this central Asian capital

Over the event each army in playing army will have access to 40 units (this is all arms) for the total length of the campaign and will be able to field up to 14 elements per game in any combination of unit type, the army will be commanded by the owning player who will be that Armies C-in-C (the C-in-C not being part of the element count.

Public participants will be allocated as an additional subordinate commander (also free). This commander will need to be allocated a command and his on-table character will add additional commander characteristics to the army he joins.

There are some surprise restrictions allowances etc that will become evident as scenarios are announced

The Scenarios
These will not be available until the day of the event and as people first are drawn to fight on each table.
The Game tables

Games 1,2 and 3 will be played on the following tables
(1) A river crossing table, (2) A rail head table and (3) An oilfield table
Game 4 will be on a large multi table with the city of Bukhara being at the centre

Wow, this event sound absolutely amazing. Too bad I'm on the wrong side of the pond for this one. Do you have any pics of the playtest boards or troops involved?

Good morning forum members, last night we conducted another full swing game as we transition from Version 1 of Setting the East Ablaze to the newer Version 2 of the rules.

This was a great game that saw, British troops backed by white Russians attempted to seize a Bukhara village with its oil and water resources intact. The local Bukhara Emir rushing to assemble his tribal forces and counter attack the village to keep hold of it.

While an allied force of Red Russian and the Turks attempted to sweep the field of any opposition to their plan to dominate and hold this key strategic village - what a game it was. Hilarious and full of action packed incidents from the second turn until the game's end.
