Very nice work.

You should have swapped the officer and the RTO round for the photograph from behind ^__^.

Thank you kindly Mr Hicks, you keep making them and I'll keep buying them (inc late WW2 Brits...)

Cheers chaps for the encouraging comments, please point out anything that looks totally wrong, I generally miss something and need all the help I can get...

Here you go...

The more I read about the potential size of a USMC platoon the more it takes on the size of an entire RLI Commando (other project in 20mm), and they had an MAG for every fourth man.
I'm definitely going to need more riflemen. So far I have five M60's, each of which needs a loader and another bod carrying more ammo; my vote is for a pack of grunts with M16s humping extra ammo cans like the Thompson carrying chap in pack NAM6 (who I don't have so far, as it would mean another 3 x M60).

If you check the M16 packs there are figures with M60 ammo wrapped round them dotted about.

Oh and more Brit WW2 just about to be released.  ;)

Anyone know if the USMC wore any rank badges in this battle?

Everything I have read has said they took them off, however I am sure the odd green officer blundered into battle with them gleaming.  ;)

Aussies were wearing cloth rank insignia when I was in (very early 70s) and my understanding is that none was worn in the "bush" while wearing Jungle Greens or cam. People knew who their officers and SNCOs were, so it was only if a higher authority blundered in to their Op area, that it could be a problem.
Cheers,

Australians didn’t wear rank badges in the field as a general rule. Even if an officer wore rank slides on his epaulettes, they would have been hidden under the webbing straps.

The Marines seem not to have worn much in the way of rank insignia, certainly not NCOs and ORs. I have seen a number of photos showing officers wearing rank insignia on their collars, even junior officers but again the flack jacket would have tended to conceal it. Photos show senior officers wearing rank, sometimes pinned to helmet covers but unless you are planning a rear area CP diorama it’s probably a moot point.
