Finished Not movie version of Conan from Repaer Bones
« on: May 18, 2019, 02:44:32 PM »
With the clouds I did not think that I would get a good picture of the tree but there was a break in the cloud cover and I got these.  The tree is still a WIP as it needs some oils and basing.  It is the Tree of Despair model from Reapers latest kickcstarter.  I replaced the ropes on not Conans wrists and linked them with some rope knots that were sculpted on the ends of the branches.  Painted with a mix of craft, GW and Privateer paints.

Hope you like.

That is awesome. The contrast between his skin and the dark tree works out very well.
Gives me inspiration to paint mine!

Last bit of oils done.  Just need to wait a few days to do a couple of touch ups then seal and flock.

Hope you like.

Very nice model!

Are they available for sale, or was is it some sort of kickstarter exclusive?

Cheers

They will be.  Generally Reaper does a Kickstarter and the models are released in slow time over about a year to a year and a half from the time the KS ships.  Some get released pretty quick some it takes a while.  Here are the contents.

KS price was $12 so I would guess about $20-25 retail.
Thanks for the comps.

Nice job, is that from a particular tale from the books?  Been reading them and don't recognize it, but then...it's a lot of tales :D

It is not from the the books as far as I can remember.  It was from the Conan the Barbarian movie with Arnie.  They called it the tree of woe.

I am sure I read it in one of the early books see  http://vaultofevil.proboards.com/thread/2075/conan-tree-death-thomas-buscema#ixzz5pCxmmnpP

The idea is from Marvel's Savage Sword of Conan No 5, April 1975.The story is a 60 page plus adaptation of R E Howard's "A Witch Shall Be Born".

'He could have lived a risk-free, moneyed life, but he preferred to whittle away his fortune on warfare.'
