Sikh Wars Sharp Practice
« on: May 22, 2019, 10:18:08 AM »
So as I am making headway with the Sikh Wars collection and we have been triallign sharp practice I thought, why not get my Sikhs on table for the first time? Long term is to do this for Black Powder but for now any excuse to play with the toys. It was actually a really interesting game and Flashman had a good gametoo, writte up and photos on the blog https://gapagnw.blogspot.com/2019/05/sikh-wars-sharp-practice-aar.html

It is really neat that you have been able to field your Sikhs in a game.
I have been following your painting progress.
I know sometimes one wonders, "will I ever get painted enough  figures for a game."
Outstanding job, they look great. :-* :-* :-*

Great to see your toys getting to see some action, Roger. Never played Sharp Practice myself. I may be wrong, but I seem to dimly recall Captain Blood commenting about some things he didn't like about the game, in particular the activation system. You didn't seem to have problems with it, though. A good game, would you say?

I wasnt really a fan of Sharp Practice but decided to give version 2 a go after having a game with Dave Imrie a couple of years ago at Partizan. I have enjoyed every game I have had with it since to be honest. I have 1812 retreat from Moscow and SIkh War projects on the go, eventually to use with Black Powder but using Sharp Practice to get small numbers on the table whislt I build enough.

5 of us have tried them now and everyone has enjoyed all the games. The activation is card driven, and the TIFFIN card ends a turn with a re-shuffle so if you are extremely unlucky your best troops could not come out very often, you still have other cards to use to activate though and this makes you think your decisions through.

No complaints from me at all.
