DBA Mexican Adventure/Maximilian
« on: May 22, 2019, 08:35:01 PM »
I would like to try my hand at doing the Mexican Adventure (French in Mexico) DBA style.
Not sure what combat factors I should use for the French, Belgian/Austrian, Mexican Republican
army, Imperialist Mexican army and then the irregular/militias. Any ideas? Do you think the French
and Mexican Republican Army used have the same factors?  Thanks.

Off the top of my head: French infantry 4 to 5, Mexican Imperial 3 with some 4. Militia 2 or 3.
Mexican Republicans 2, 3, possibly some 4. Belgians etc. 4.

DBA style, militia losing close combat flee. Cavalry quick kill militia caught in the open. Republicans have no horse artillery - horses cost too much.
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

Thanks,

That gives me something to start with. Just wasn't sure how good was the Mexican Republican army. Especially in comparison to the French.

You might want to look at 'Horse, Foot & Guins', the Horse & Musket version of DBA, which comes with Maximilian army lists among many others. Printable copy from lulu.com

I think you could try DBN adapting troop values according to the two armies as suggested by vtsaogames.
