Celtic mythic battle

I had a go at a battle with chum Matt last night using my various Celtic mythology forces and my Sherpa fleece terrain mat (I’ve been playing skirmishes on it, but the intention was always to build up to something bigger).  This game was a really a mini Second Battle of Moy Tura, involving the Tuatha de Danaan vs the Fomorians.  We were playing with around 10 units a side plus 3-4 heroes, including Balor, Lugh, the Dagda and so on. Rules were a home-brewed set that I’m working on at the moment. It worked better than I had expected, with some nice heroic combats; the Fomorians managed a narrow victory in about two hours of play.

Thanks. No campaign plans yet as I’m merely at the ‘does it work?’ Stage so far... but it would be nice to do.

More pics from another game yesterday. Developing the single combat rules; Lugh got decked by Balor, but a huge Fomorian champion was brought down by a pack of wolfhounds. Entertaining.
