Super Mission Force Convention Event - Input welcome!
« on: July 01, 2019, 03:22:02 PM »
So, I am going to run a SMF game at a upcoming convention. Trying to think of a good title for it, the theme is 4 super villain teams facing on a 4x4 table.
Each villain team will have 2-3 models per player, so I can do up to 8 players with each player running 2-3 models.

Teams:

Cotrie of Crime – Professional Thieves, they are out for pure profit.

Darksyde – Evil to the core, has occult/horror theme.

New Disorder – give insane people superpowers and let them escape from the asylum

Fellowship of Evil (FOE) – Think along the lines of Masters of Evil or Legion of Doom.

The setup:
Each table section is 2x2. Each team will start in a 2x2 section. Their objectives will be in the other three 2x2. To win, they must achieve all three. Many objectives limited.

Team Goals:
Cotrie of Crime – Get the goods! - Obtain Priceless book, Kidnap Civilian (new technology), money grab (cash or gold) or artwork from a warehouse.

Darksyde – Summon Otherworld being – chemical (spell component), kidnap civilian (sacrifice), recover ritual book

New Disorder – Pure Mayhem (make more crazy supers)! - toxic chemicals (for insane gas), kidnap civilian to make into new team member,

Fellowship of Evil (FOE) – Try to take over the world! - Chemical for powersource, ? ?

The Team Goals is tough to figure out as I need to put the same goal in the opposite 2x2 that is similar.

Input and Ideas welcome!

Brainstorming:

Statuette with ruby eyes: Darksyde wants it as a summoning aid, Coterie for the rubies, Disorder just wants to smash it (whee),
FOE doesn't want Great Kachoohoo summoned -- he'd destroy the world they're trying to conquer.

Priceless book: Darksyde wants the summoning spell, Coterie likes the priceless aspect, Disorder just wants to burn it (whee), FOE heard rumors of mind-control magic contained therein.

Civilian captive: Darksyde thinks Kachoohoo's hungry, Coterie wants the ransom money, Disorder just want to stomp on her (whee),
FOE wants to ransom her for plutonium (she's the president's daughter).

Egyptian Sarcophagus: Darksyde wants powdered-pharaoh mummy as spell component, Coterie wants to sell gold sarcophagus,
Disorder just want to smash it (whee), FOE has learned that ankh entombed with pharaoh is ancient alien power source.

This sounds awesome! For a title, how about "Amok Crime"?  It's a play on one of the most classic Star Trek episodes where Kirk and Spock have to duke it out on planet Vulcan in a weird ritual melee.

Also, as a an over-arching subplot, maybe each team could have one member who was at one time on the same government-sanctioned "Suicide Squad", so these characters may be less inclined (or perhaps more inclined) to fight each other.

I'd love to see pics of your models and terrain when it's ready, or actual game pics. Thanks for running this!

Loving the flow of ideas! Yes, I plan to take some photos....still tinkering with some elements. I am leaning to "It's Good to be so EVIL!" as a title. I hope I can get a new print copy to show off in late September and if you get the dice in would be a nice touch! So far, things are looking good.

You have to include one of the best villains I've seen on these forums.....SUPER-RUBE!  I laughed out loud when I read that one.  Scott, I believe that is from one of your battle reports?  We should all be on the lookout for super-rube...seriously.  :D
