Aliexpress Japanese Sengoku period buildings

When looking for something I came across these, and they caught my attention as the look pretty good and I'm thinking of getting a few things together for the 2nd edition of Test of Honour. Prices seem reasonable at about £20-£30ish each.

A mansion house or small palace



A gate house



And a castle



Poking around there's also what looks to a small town house and perhaps a temple.

Anyone had any experience with these, they claim to be 28mm 1/56?

Personally, for those types of buildings I prefer resin or similar, but they're certainly a lot nicer than any other mdf kits I've seen for the period.

Hmm, not good - so presumably pirated then, as some of the buildings even use an identical picture...

I don't know for sure of course but I can't imagine Tre selling wholesale that cheap as it's a hefty discount.

Aliexpress is notorius for pirated figures 1/35 to 120mm busts etc .  I bought this kit from one seller it is described as a Miaio peasant building and I am well pleased with it.

Was decribed as 1/48 scale and it is a cut above the usual balsa kits of Chinese buildings.  The Miaio were allies of the Taipings I think Foundry had some in their Taiping range

Presuming that it is piracy of course. Reverse engineering? Huawei phone or modem? That furtive looking cove always lurking by their in the Yum Cha restaurant the designers eat at?

The time and effort put into reverse engineering would be ridiculous, It would probably be easier to design your own with a basic look at theirs. (Which it may be for all we know) I reckon they must have outsourced their production for this sort of piracy to happen, or somehow been given the files.

I don’t think it would be that onerous. They could buy the kits and have a couple of people just measure and copy them in a cad file. Job done.
