Starting my Brown Water Navy
« on: July 07, 2019, 06:28:57 PM »
Waiting for a proper PBR to enter the market I started dabbling with some other vessels. When I saw this image of a French Patrol Boat in Vietnam I saw opportunities of using the Ainsty boat for Vietnam with a US Crew:

Cool
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Next step is to get what I understand is called a "Mike boat", which is a LCM (Landing Craft Mechanised). The US had mainly three types LCM-3 (WW2 but an odd one could be found in Vietnam), LCM-6 ( which was mainly used on the rivers) and LCM-8 (bigger version). I have not found any LCM-6 in a scale suitable for 28mm so I was happy to find out that it is basically the same as an LCM-3, just 1,8 m longer. When I saw this cool picture I ordered an HobbyBoss LCM-3 in 1/48:

As you can see this LCM altered into a real gunship, adding guns and steel plates. My version look like this where I have removable/interchangable components:
-Minigun platform
-Tarpaulin cover
-Helipad
