A larger, posh house for the same client  :)

Is it for a large, posh client?  ;)

Lovely work. I would be over the moon if I could build something as nice as that.

I have a question though. Were roofs commonly left untreated? It was a thought that occurred to me with the church you originally posted, as the belfry is painted white but the roof shingles are 'natural'.  My (perhaps mistaken) assumption would be that the roof would get more weather exposure and so would need more protection.

Thanks and a good question  :)

To be honest, I don't fully know but shingles can last 30-40 odd years as wood has it's own protective qualities in it's structure. As wood was in plentiful supply then changing it over wouldn't be unduly onerous or expensive.

I could be wrong of course  :D

Thanks for that. Besides your treatment of the shingles is much too nice to be covered up with paint.

Wood shingles will age - generally into the realm of gray.  But they also are susceptible to getting dry and warping like crazy too.  Once dry enough, they are a huge fire hazard - just one spark can ignite an inferno.  Takes a few years for them to shift colors.  I think cedar tend to last longer.

Again, nice work.  But is any thing less to be expected from a master modeler!?   :D
