"Pig War 1859" San Juan Islands dispute -Canada
« on: July 10, 2019, 08:12:16 AM »
I like the little known conflicts. This is a What if.1859 a Pig from a British magistrate wandered into a Irishmans garden on American side and was shot, though compensation was offered ,the magistrate turned it down. Tha San Juan Islands boundary was disputed between USA and Great Britain. So now 5 British warships ,2000 Marines are brought in under Admiral Baynes. To counter this the 9th US infantry and 3rd US infantry, under Col.Harney and a young Capt. "PICKETT"..yep that Pickett. No battle was ever fought as cooler heads prevailed ,but what fun is that. Pickett said 'I will make a Bunker Hill of this...so here is our fight.  The fight was for Roberts redoubt ,defended by USA..at Camp Pickett named after the Fence not the guy.

Cool, one of my favourite ‘what ifs’/ almost wars. The action, such as it was took place in 1859 though not 1855.
Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

Double Pickett panic?!  Also one of my favorite what-if periods - though I've never pursued it.  But it may inspire other era gaming scenarios.  Nicely done.  Ouais au cochon!

Fun looking game! I’ve visited the island several times and have this as a future project (15 years running  lol)
