Assault on Ynysafallon
« on: July 19, 2019, 11:27:59 PM »
I finally got in a game of Warhammer 40,000: Apocalypse against some other Super Heavies! THIS is what apocalypse was made for!

A Warhost of the Biel-Tim Fleet struck a blow against the Sons of Lott Questor Imperialis Household!

A friend brought over all of his Knights....

I had all my Eldar Super Heavy Grav-Tanks....

It was a pretty epic battle!

While I think ths should be played in Epic Armageddon and 6mm.. lol

I love how you've integrated GW foliage with normal greenery.
Great results!. Could you post more photos ? :-*

Very cool. I'm not a 40K gamer but grav tanks and big stompy robots... What's not to like?

I heard a rumor the Apocalypse rules were different from GW's usual fare. What's your take on that?

Oh, for sure. I like it. It's pretty fast. It fixes a few things I can't stand about 40K (Alpha Smite, for one). I like the alternating activation and that you generally do one thing with a unit instead of Move EVERYTHING, then shoot EVERYTHING and then assault and fight in close combat with EVERYTHING!?

I agree wholeheartedly, but I have to admit that (probably due to the number of superheavy units on the table) this game actually wound up looking much less crowded than most Apoc (or regular 40K) matches I've seen lately.  Definitely less of the "Grimdark Parking Lot" thing going on here.

Then I wonder if small points Apocalypse is not the best way to ply 40k :P

It is! I seriously think this is totally going to be my go-to game for 40K action larger than Kill Team action!

Looks like a fun game. Really appreciate the Apocalypse insights too - we tried playing a 4000 point game of regular 40k a few weeks back and it was a nightmare, frankly. Will see if I can get the group to share the cost...

Well Big stompy robots - thats what.

I have a particular hatred of anthropomorphising robots . Liekwise I have zero interest in scifi game mechanics that have tanks engaging less than two tank-lengths from the enemy and everyone rushing into the middle to hit things because its more effective than shooting.

Having got that off my chest - big thumbs up to the paint jobs on the initial pictures - always good to see well painted scifi.  And if WH40k is your thing - then good for you - enjoy! :-)
