Plastic Late Roman Light Cavalry
« on: July 20, 2019, 09:05:14 PM »
Darren, at Gripping Beast kindly let me have some pre-release plastics. They are very nice crisp models. They have no or little flash. They figures come with loads of options. If you want to see more of a review you can read more on my blog. https://marctgames.wordpress.com/2019/07/20/busy-hobby-week/
However, enclosed are some pictures to give you an idea of what the figures look like.

28mm. Comparable with other manufacturers like Fireforge.

Excellent, glad to see GB finally snapped out of re-using the same limited kit several times (Dark Age/Roman Heavy/Goth cavalry). Looks like a pretty versatile sprue, with bits that could probably add some variation to the infantry and heavy cav too.
Horses look new too; even if the halves are not interchangeable, switching those out with the other cavalry sets should give sufficient variation.

It is future project that Darren mentioned. The armoured horses are just about to be given the go ahead. They will be released alongside the current Goth armoured cavalry. They will then make some Roman armoured Cataphract Cavalry that will then be released with the Armoured horses. All in plastic.

Right.  I was interested in size comparisions with other 28mm manufacturers.  I don't have any experience with fireforge, was thinking about Footsore, GB, etc.  Sorry for the lack of clarity.

Here is a photo with some other figures. So going from left to right:
Gripping Beast Plastic, Gripping Beast Metal, footsore and lastly Foundry.
Hope this helps. Sorry plastic model has a thinner base.

Thanks for the photo review.   It's nice to see some variation in the horses.  I will definitely pick this set up.

Not to bad, can you make javelin or medium cavalry from the set or just Sagittari

Cheers
