Normandy Farm my 3D Project
« on: July 22, 2019, 05:05:45 PM »
This has been my own personnel project for my Bolt Action Games.

The aim of this project is to have a farm house (printed), a barn (designed but not printed), a stable like structure (printed), a shed (designed not printed), gate house (designed not printed) and finally a wall that will enclose the farm structures with ruined or damaged parts.

I have taken a few photos of the project so far and placed some of my British in the photos for scale.

The farm house:

Ground Floor

First Floor & over view of completed buildings and walls so far:

Stable like building - the middle part in the door way is a separate item and can be removed at any time.

Nice work - and useful in several periods.

Looks like I will have some painting to do soon!

Hami (my son) creates the designs and prints them himself.  I am sure that he is open to bribery!  He did a whole Dark Age village for me.

I have been busy in the garden this evening.

Really cool ! What 's the source of the designs, please ?

As my Dad said, I design and print a lot of my own stuff. This is one of those designs.

As for files becoming available. Please drop me a PM and we can have a chat.

Apologies for the quality of the photos, I have basically took a photo of my laptop screen.

This is my Gate House

This is the Barn - there is a floor and roof to go with it but I have left them out as they are the same as the house.

and then the Bombed out version of the farm house - this will be modular the same as the farm house. This is NOT FINISHED but you can see what I am trying to achieve.

Once I have printed all these I will post a few photos.

Looking good. I would be interested to see painted versions, as to my eye, the stonework looks to be a bit exaggerated, but under paint it will probably look spot on. (You could always add plaster as well.)

with regards to stone work please see photos of the church from the dark age village I designed and printed with the same stone work.

yep, that works. Very nice. On buildings like the farmhouse, I would be tempted to half plaster the walls too, but there are plenty of pictures of raw stone buildings.

One thing I would like to see 3d printed are all the various bits and pieces that need to be added to buildings, such as telephone terminators, signboards, drains, etc.

Stuff like this:

or this one on the right:

Once I have completed this and tried to scale it down to 20mm, I am looking at doing a small French town that will be plastered etc with some bricks/stones shown at parts as per old 1944 photos.

as for the extra parts to be added to buildings this wouldn't be too difficult to design and print all I would need is photos and rough sizes.

I will have a look and play around and see what I can do and post some photos.

I will be interested to see what you come up with. I have seen some really nice layouts for games, but they all look just a bit too antiseptic and tidy.  All the wartime photos show street furniture, various bits and pieces like lamp-posts, poles, signs, telegraph/telephone connectors, rubbish bins, bicycles, boxes, etc.

So I finally got back to my printer after a few weeks away from it.

As I posted previously saying once I got back near the printer I would test print and posts photos, these are the finished prints of the Barn and the Gatehouse both at 28mm scale.

Barn -

The Gatehouse - I will need to change the design of this as part of the underside did not print as well as I was hoping for.

I am currently test printing my Ruin Farmhouse at 20mm scale, so once that is completed I will post a few photos of that for use to have a look at.

Looks great. Did you mention what type of printer you had?
