What (spray) paints are suitable for US vehicles in Vietnam?
« on: September 01, 2019, 10:49:49 AM »
With the imminent release of lots of US vehicles by Empress, has anyone any suggestions for suitable colours (preferably available in spray can and bottle) for painting them?

Being able to buy them at Colours would be a bonus.

I will have USMC and 11 ACR vehicles to paint.

Thanks in advance.

And apologies to Grant for another Vietnam thread. ^___^

I have been using the Tamiya acrylics in the little jars.

I use the Tamiya acrylics, through a cheap airbrush. Their olive drab is excellent for US vehicles.

I modified and repainted a Corgi M48 and when I repainted it, I used a rattle can of Tamiya’s Nato Green. It seems fairly close to USMC Forest Green, which is greener than US Army OD. I had masked off the lettering on the barrel and stowage bins, expecting to have fiddly bits of touch up around the letters. As it happens it’s almost a seamless transition. Good enough for me.

If you want to be a bit more professional, AK Interactive, do a set that covers both the marines and US Army.  It’s a WW2 set, so the US Army OD might be a little too olive but IIRC the Forest Green should be good to go.
