Justinian's Wars 15mm
« on: August 22, 2019, 12:18:43 PM »
I wanted to put together an early Byzantine army that looked like the soldiers shown in Roy Boss's Justinian's Wars.  That meant a fair bit of mixing and matching between various manufacturers ranges.  So far I've used Donnington, Minifigs, Old Glory and Khurasan.  I'm about half way through and they seem to me to fit together well enough.

Some of the figures haven't, so far as I know, appeared on the internet before which is a shame as they look pretty good.  The army is based for Piquet's Pulse of Battle.

If its of interest here's the link.

Thanks for showing the various lines of figures together. Perhaps when I finish the Parthians...
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

Thanks gentlemen.

The shields are transfers scanned and reduced to fit the figures. It's a bit fiddly to do but it looks nice especially at a bit of a distance.

The various ranges fit together well enough I think and you can never have too much variety.  A few new command stands and a couple of elephants and Parthians can pass muster for Sassanians.  So if you are tempted to do Belisarius's army you would pretty much already have the opposition.
