This one is gonna be close. Great looking figures and the beast in the second one in a word...WOW!!

By the way, where did the skull terrain piece come from in the first entry?
Good luck to you both.

Again two great entries! I really like the scenery in the first pic but I was turned off by the old caveman with the extreme shading (or is it warpaint?). The painting on the other models in the same entry looks much better and the scenery fits like nothing else! On the other hand, I really like the smooth and natural paintjob on the carnosaur in the second entry, and I like how you've managed to put a slightly over the top GW model in a more realistic setting.

Its from Dreamholme Scenics: http://www.dreamholme.com/shop/article_36/Skull-Shrine.html?shop_param=cid%3D1%26aid%3D36%26
Its a very cleanly cast item with loads of detail.  Shaun is a nice bloke to deal with too.

Only the upper part is the resin cast item.  I have based it on thick polystyrene (the white open-grain type) into which I cut the rock texture and a series of steps (which cannot be seen in this picture).  I will post some additional pics after the end of round 10 if you like.

I really like the scenery in the first pic but I was turned off by the old caveman with the extreme shading (or is it warpaint?).
He is painted as if covered in mud/clay/warpaint somewhat like an Australian Aboriginal, as I've imagined him to be an elderly shaman.  The drawback of lots of miniatures in a single photo means some of the detail is lost & I generally prefer to not add in a bunch of thumbnails/detail shots.  Again, once this round is over I can post some additional photos.
Thanks for the comments & great entry from Stevedaccs too.  8)

I used the same shaman/elder in my entry and thought to add warpaint as well but I knew that I likely would not be able to show a close-up, so the effect might be lost.  I was able, however, to convert his skull/head-dress to that of a baby triceratops skull (spoils from a previously successful 'Breakfast Quest'!) ;)

I like how you were able to pull off the effect though Overlord

I think the shaman is perfect! I recognized it as war paint immediately and it just fits in so well with the King Kong theme. Just look at the natives from the movie. Perfect choice. The rest of the miniatures is super too. The scenery finishes it off perfectly. Great final entry Overlord!

I think Steve has done an excellent job of making an ugly dinosaur look fantastic. I'm just not a fan of the Carnosaur, but the way you painted it and presented it in the pictures works so well. I just hope those nice natives have some explosive arrows in their quivers ;)

Awesome stuff Paul.
Your blending has gotten much more refined hasn't it! I see what you mean.

I like the shaman, but if you hadn't told me it was warpaint, I wouldn't have known. I think that is more down to my ignorance!
