Good to see a game in progress - what are your thoughts on the rules?

Do they give a real flavour of the books?

Do they give a real flavour of the books?

I must say that the way they use characters fits really well with the books. Generally the characters cant attack or something like that, they just influence their unit to fight harder, spread pannic and the likes. That goes as well for the characters who are not on the battlefield and will be intriguing in their castles. Some of the things are a bit abstract, and you have to keep in mind that these things dosent happen simultaionously for it to make sense, but the characters outside the battlefield have used a long time to plan things, that you now can show the result of.

Every commander have access to action cards, as well as cards from the house, that specialises and tailors the army to fit the house and commander. This makes the armies unique and very flavoured.

My main problem is the size of the battles. In the game you have maybe 60 men on each side, where in the books it is thousands. I would have preffered smaller models to have a more epic scale. I just go with that this is the center of the battlefield, and a lot of battle is raging around it.

I am a huge fan of the books, and i will recommend this game whole-heartedly if you are looking for ways to portray and play Westerosi battles!

I have painted up some characters to support my House Bolton forces.

Here is Steelshanks Walton, Roose Bolton and Ramsey Snow. Steelshanks face look kindda weird this close up, but looks fine at tabletop distance. I find it really difficult to paint faces, so it stays this way :-) Rules wise he counts as a Guard Captain.

My nest project is continuing painting House Bolton forces, next is The Bastards Girls, a mix unit of hounds and archers.

Thanks, I hope You'll give it a try. I have shared some thoughts on how you could use your minis ind your own thread.

And I have been even more productive in this quarantine world!

I have painted up some of the Bastards Boys and some of his hounds in this mix unit. And an unlucky Theon Greyjoy, or Reek, is trapped between them. I really think this unit gives a lot of flavour to my house Bolton Force. Once again I have stringed the Bows. A bit fiddlier than the crossbows, but It have turned out fine, I think.

Nice work! Really like the bowstrings as a nice touch!

Also, good work with the book details too, like Theon's hair being completely white by the time he becomes Reek, and Ramsay's red helm!

Thank you both! I really like the bow strings as well. It just gives an extra finish to the models. Even though these were fiddly as hell. A lot harder to work with than the crowwbows.

I really try to paint my miniatues as close to the book as possible. This recreation theme really makes it fun for me to paint - even though in all other games I take pride in inventing my own backstory and colour schemes. I am just really neary enough about ASOIF that i want the minis to reflect GRRM's fantastic works.

Beauty and the Beast!

I finished Brienne of Tarth and Bronn.
I dont really know why this special Bronn model have a shield, since the character is famous for not fighting with shields, but I thought it would be difficult to remove it nicely.
I Used a blue glaze to paint over the metal in Briennes armour. The result is OK, but it is difficult to make it look like coloured steel i think.¨

The last of my Boltons, here are a unit of House Bolton Heavy Cavalry. I'm really pleased with these!

Nest plan is painting up some House Stark forces, but i don't really know where to start. I love paiting white, so i'm looking forward to that!

Thank you :-)

And here are my first stark infantry. I really like how they turned out. I think the colours i chose work really well, and i'm looking forward to paint more! Next I will paint either Some House Mormont infantry or some House Stark characters.

Good work on those Starks

Thanks! They are coming a long nicely! Here are some House Stark archers done! The bowstrings were really annoying, but at least they look fine, even though they are not as tight as i wanted them to be :-)
My next plan is House Tully infantry, since i already became tired of painting white :-)
