Australia’s Vietnam Resources
« on: September 22, 2019, 11:28:35 AM »
With Empress due to release 28mm Australians in the (hopefully) not too distant future, I thought it would be worth sharing some resources for Australia’s war in South Vietnam.

First up, the excellent University of New South Wales site. It really is a superb reference. The battle maps alone make it all worth while. Click or press on one of the red dots and you get the incident report with a description and the key details of the encounter, type of action, forces engaged etc.Links are provided to intsums and battalion diary entries for the action. It’s fairly comprehensive and combined with the map shoukd provide plenty of fodder for gaming scenarios.

Battles and operations are also searchable.

There are also a number of well written articles and the site has some excellent photos. Highly recommended.

If you can find it, Mud & Dust: Australian Army Vehicles & Artillery in Vietnam is a fantastic resource with plenty of fantastic photos from the AWM and a detailed listing of numbers, ARN and callsigns of vehicles deployed to Vietnam.
