First look at Star Trek Next Generation heroclix
« on: August 14, 2019, 12:58:35 PM »
Looks like the new Next Generation heroclix are hitting the stores.

You can see the range here - https://wizkids.com/heroclix/star-trek-heroclix-away-team-the-next-generation-resistance-is-futile-gravity-feed/

Picard

Bridge Crew

Looks like a good source of cheap(ish) figures.

I'm interested, but I'd need to cut those over-sized light sabres off of the minis.

I was hoping these would have been released last year, when I started up my ST campaign. As it was, I was forced to buy Modiphius minis instead.

A lot more expensive, a hassle to actually acquire and the quality was... all over the board. They're really big too.

So now I'm curious to see how these will scale up to my existing collection. Hopefully they're not too wildly off, so I can mix and match...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

The original series heroclix scale up very nicely with the Modiphius figures.

Here's a heroclix Dr McCoy with Modiphius Kirk & Spock figures.

Would hope the The Next Gen figures are the same.

Thanks for that :)

If anything, going by your picture, the Clix minis look slightly larger than the Modiphius ones!

Also, I have only the Next Generation Modiphius miniatures; no TOS, so there might still be some difference there, but I will definitely be trying a few of those Clicks now...

I love the action pose with his PADD with new shift scheduling approval forms preloaded!   lol

Demoted for going on too many away missions.

Hmm, I could see these as fillers, but the Modiphius figures are so much nicer, IMO, that I'd much rather spend the extra cash. Still, if you want some more red-shirts, or Klingons to bust up, this is a good value option.

What I'd really like to see, though, are more TNG-era aliens like Cardassians, Ferengi, Jem'Hadar, and so on. Right now the market is pretty sparse when it comes to those guys.

What's not clear from Wizkids is that there are 3 planned releases for the Next generation clix.
The first two are Star Trek HeroClix Away Team: The Next Generation – Resistance is Futile Gravity Feed (containing 36 figures), Star Trek HeroClix Away Team: The Next Generation – Fast Forces (containing Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Commander William T. Riker, Lt. Commander Data, Lt. Worf, Dr. Beverly Crusher, and Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge (in a red uniform???)) and were supposed to be available in June.

The third set is Star Trek HeroClix Away Team: The Next Generation – To Boldly Go… Gravity Feed which will include 32 new figures. New poses of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Riker, Data, Geordi, Worf, and Deanna Troi will be joined by adversaries the Romulans, Cardassians, Ferengi and Armus. This is due in September.

Given the first two are only just hitting the stores, I suspect the last one will be delayed.

I would assume the Jem'Hadar would appear in any DS9 clix. Yes the Modiphius figures are better quality, but at least Heroclix provide some alternative characters and the bridge crew in their TNG uniforms and the figures paint up ok.

True, and the Modiphius set is obviously far from comprehensive - there are several TNG characters missing. That's cool that Wizkids is making some Cardassians and Ferengi! I would have preferred the sequinned business suit look to the fur vests and boots, but I'll take what I can get. If nothing else, at least the heads can be swapped onto other bodies. Thanks for the pics!

Wasn't going to get this one but now..... I will probably pick up some. I liked the original series away team stuff with Kurk and crew.

Finally got hold of a couple of the new figures.

Modiphius Officer, Heroclix Riker, Last Unicorn Officer and Heroclix Worf. Size wise, fits well with Modiphius figures. I guess I'll have to use the Last Unicorn figures as cadets.

Last Unicorn Security, Heroclix Work & Modiphius Security

Normally I give Heroclix figures a quick dip and a rebase, however it doesn't seem to have worked as well with these figures. Also, the phaser that Riker is holding dwarfs the one that Worf has.

Looks like they’re a good match for the Modiphius figures, but I agree, a new paint job is probably in order.
