a small conquistador project
« on: August 15, 2019, 01:10:19 AM »
Here are a couple conquistadors from Eureka Miniatures I recently finished up. These were pretty fun models to paint as a little side project. I also have a pack of conquistadors on horseback from this range that I plan to do soon to give these guys some more companions.

Excellent work! I agree that a better photo would do them more justice.

They're from Eureka Miniatures 28mm range.

Excellent work! I agree that a better photo would do them more justice.

Better lighting might help in the future.

I bought a bunch of Eureka Portuguese conquistadors painted off ebay once and have always been sorry that I sold them.

Here's a small update. I started painting two mounted conquistadors. I don't recall painting any horses before so it's been an interesting exercise so far. Definitely a bit different than painting people wearing clothes and armor. There's still a ways to go, but I hope to finish them in the next few days. Anyhow here are a couple pictures of the horses so far. I think they still need their hooves, socks, some face detail, some highlights, and a bit of cleanup here and there before I'll move on to their riders.

Looking forward to seeing your progress on the cavalry.  Your three infantry figures were excellent.

Here's something of an update on the two cavalry models that have been sitting on my desk untouched for about two months. I got a bit distracted working on other odds and ends unrelated to this thread and pushed these two to the side. Finally I decided it was high time to crack on and finish them. I'll share what I've got done so far. I need to finish the skin, and there are still some details that need paint, plus a bit more washing and highlighting here and there, and obviously basing. Getting close though! Hopefully I'll be able to finish them tomorrow evening.

Nice work, but I don't envy you all the Aztec paintwork, & I did a Tlascalan
Hordes of the things army for a club campaign.

I don't think I'd want to paint too many either. I only bought the two packs of miniatures as something fun and different to paint as a distraction from other projects.

We didn't paint all that many natives for our campaign. Did a DBA army each,
but used the 'Horde' idea from 'Hordes of the Things',
That is poor quality troops die easily, but you can bring them back as a
second, third etc. wave.  Same idea works for; Zulus, Gauls, Dungeon rats,
Alien swarms & Zombies.
Paint a few of the Aztec 'grunts' & have one of their patrols bump into the Spanish.
Then (maybe) you might want to paint something like 2 or 3 Jaguar knights.
Just a suggestion.
Stuff looking good so far, shame not to have a table top opponent.
