The Boys - any fitting minis?
« on: August 17, 2019, 01:21:00 PM »
I started to watch "The Boys" on Amazon Prime.
While I knew Preacher, somehow this superhero gem story eluded me.
I really like the series.

Are there any fitting minis around?
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - http://www.adpublishing.de

Hrm, I reckon there are superfigs around. Maybe Heroclix? Seeing as the Boys was published by Dynmaite comics for a while. Otherwise you'll have to go for conversion work. Same with Marshal Law characters, you usually need to build them from scratch.  :'(

From the comics, one of them could use either Ray or Nick by Hassle free.

Simon Pegg reacted very well to unlicensed use of his image, and wrote a forward to one of them.

Some of the Knight models range look convertible. I think Ozmandias would be a good start for a Homelander conversion, and Maeve could be converted from their Crime Syndicate set.

I've mulled this over a few times, and the nearest I could get were as follows (all based on comic book versions):

Butcher - HF Harby

Wee Hughie - HF Baker

Frenchie - HF William

Mother's Milk - HF Sgt Spanner

https://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=sgt.-spanner~hfa092&category=modern-%26%0D%0Apost%252dapoc~modern-adventurers

The Female - HF Alyx

Obviously some minor conversion work needed for all of them, a haircut, or glasses for example, but nothing too difficult. I think The Female is the only one I have any doubts about working but the only other fig I could see that might work was HFs Zombie Suzi, and that would require much more putty work than I feel happy with.

As far as the Capes go, a trawl through Heroclix should present enough options for several "counts-as" figures if given the right paint job.

Hope that's useful anyway. I may still do this at some point so it's interesting to see what you come up with.

 :)

Oh, good call, I'd completely missed Brooke. Would need the pistol and knife carved off, but yeah, I can see that working.  :)

Forgot about Terror. Nice spot.

Note to anyone who's only seen the series - do yourself a favor and read the graphic novels.  Show's okay, but it actually tones a lot of the grimmer stuff down and makes major changes to both the plot and many of the characters.  I'm still trying to wrap my head around the Deep being turned into a flat-out Aquaman clone (at least visually).  I guess they figured non-comic fans wouldn't have gotten the parallel if they didn't take his signature helmet off and make him a blonde white guy, but it just looks so weird.
