TSUBA RUSSIANS FOR CIVIL WAR
« on: August 19, 2019, 08:58:16 PM »
As a great fan of mr Hicks sculpting I am wondering how many of these circa-1905 figures I can use for the Civil War. Was the peak less cap much used ? What units could be represented by the rather nice peaked cap wearing cavalry ? And what Civil war units might the newly released Cossacks be useful for ? Sorry to ask such basic questions but am thinking of having a go at this era.

Antone have any rules or basing suggestions ? I rather like the RED ACTIONS system but want to base figures in such a way that they can be sued for other things too.

many thanks
JM

The cossacks uniform was traditional and didn't change. So my best guess is that you can use both the cossacks and the line cavalry for WW1 and RCW.

Yep, uniforming the diffrent forces was difficult. So it was not uncommon to see troops useing older uniforms from storage.
And the old style ones can also be used as a base from some of the whites colored or officer/cadet units.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

As White Russian elite regiment.

I did add peaks on some of the caps, but just for variety.

(The mad Count-type is from Pulp Figures.)

Great painting. But there are a couple of points.
Officer uniforms (with two rows of buttons), which were used during the Russo-Japanese War, are not suitable for the period of the First World War and the Civil War. Although they can be easily converted into a leather jacket, which, although it was not regulated, was widely used.
The Russian shoulder straps has no edging in the narrow part (below - or external,  outside).
