Bears Head Miniatures - Dogs
« on: August 22, 2019, 12:58:09 PM »

I started work on some Dog minis. First two are ready for casting, a Bulldog and Grest Dane.
I値l be making more and they値l be a pledge level in my upcoming Kickstarter in September. The project is primarily fantasy themed, but there will be a good amount of everyday animals in their too.

Bulldog is great

But there is something very odd about the back end of the Dane.

It could be higher. I値l revise it and see how it looks then. Appreciate the feedback 👍

Well taken. Dags does know his dogs.

Is it me or does the Great Dane also look a little too heavy set and short in the leg?

I revised the Great Dane. Building up the rump and giving it a tummy lift. He might be a bit of a mutt
still, maybe a bit of lab in their too :)

Topline is better - should only be slight drop towards the rear. But now the back looks a little short - Danes are rectangular rather than square and it definitely needs more length of leg and 'bone'

All true, but who is to say this is not a "heroic" scale Dane?

Eh, I had a Dane that was pure bred and built like a barrel. Also only weighed 90lbs, so she was a bit of a runt. Like people, nature isn't as picky as the AKC in terms of what a breed can look like.

I知 adjusting the Great Dane again, but I知 going to assume he has a bit of lab in their too. I値l be making some more next week. Greyhound, retriever and whatever else comes to mind at the time.

He does have a 'Hound of the Baskervilles' vibe to him.
'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.
